Rosa Campbell

I am a historian of global feminism and writer based in London.
My book The Book that Taught the World of Orgasm and then Disappeared will be published by Melville House and New South in April 2026. It’s about The Hite Report a feminist sexology bestseller which sold 50 million copies, the rise and dramatic fall of its wild, visionary author Shere Hite, and her almost total erasure from public memory. Read more about the project in The New Yorker.
I am a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at King's College London researching Global South feminism and the United Nations in the late 20th Century. I have held fellowships at Harvard, The University of Edinburgh and the National Library of Australia.
Before completing my PhD, I worked as a Special Educational Needs teacher and literacy consultant in London and more recently as an assistant head. I also work with schools to improve literacy practice, reading teaching and to develop creative teaching. I work with museums and cultural institutions to develop their inclusive practice.

I have been active in movements for justice in London and Sydney. For my work toward gender equality, I was the recipient of an Edna Ryan award.
